iRED can measure the exact length, diameter and profile of the log with its infrared parallel scanners arranged on a single measurement plane. In addition, iRED also recognizes the top diameter of the log which therefore makes it possible to control the log turner.

By adding a second measurement plane the iRED can also calculate the sweep of the log.

The calculated data are made available for immediate control at the machine center as well as for optimizing any subsequent process operation as it is stored in a relative software system, such as WiNLOG or OPTiLINE by MiCROTEC.
